Over last few months many people have asked me about my photography gear. So today i have decided to pen down the contents of my camera bag.
Camera Gears of a Travel Photographer
I have been a Nikon user from last six years now. I started photography from a entry level DSLR and upgraded to Full Frame body Nikon D750 last year. Main reason for choosing D750 over D610 was phenomenal low light performance , blazing fast Auto Focus and higher Mega Pixels.
Go Pro Hero 4 Silver
I am not much of a video guys. I, however, use GoPro mainly for under water videos and photography.
From 2011 To 2014
NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR
(Dec 2014 – till date)
This is a perfect walk around lens for me. At wider end 24mm provides sufficient Field of View to capture landscapes, architecture and people with surroundings. At tele-end 120mm provides me enough room to go close to my subjects. Convenient for close-up impromptu portraits or street photography.
Nikkor 50mm 1.4G
(Dec 2014 – till date)
If you want to see immediate improvement in your clicks, take my advice, use a prime lens. This amazing 50mm Prime lens from Nikon has a stellar performance record. Wide aperture of f/1.4 enables me to click in low light without flashes and very narrow Depth of Field. This is my favorite lens for clicking portraits.
See my post about The Cat Cafe. All images have been clicked from this lens.
Samyang 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC
(May 2015 – till date)
This inexpensive manual Ultra Wide Angle lens has been my goto lens for those lovely Milky Way shots and Night Sky. Wider aperture of f/2.8 allows me to capture bright Milky Way without letting star trails and maintaining low ISO levels. I generally do not click architecture with this lens due to distortions.
See Milky Way Images in my Mount Rinjani post, clicked using this lens.
NikoN 20mm f/1.8G
(Dec 2015 – till date)
This is perfect lens for clicking landscapes, cityscapes and architecture and milky way.
TAmron 70-200mm f/2.8
(April 2016 – till date)
Amazingly sharp lens for portraits and landscapes
Raynox DCR-250 Macro conversion lens
Tokina 11-16 F/2.8 DXII
(2013 To 2015)
Nikon SB – 700
Nikon’s superb medium sized flash with iTTL technology. I like its little recycle time (~2.5 sec) even on half powered batteries.
Tripod and Head
Manfrotto 190 CX PRO 3 with 496RC2 BH
What impact can a Carbon Fiber tripod make to your long exposures, can be seen after using this tripod. This is a 3 section tripod, with horizontal/vertical center column. It is super stable, versatile, configurable, solid make and is really beautiful 🙂
No doubt its an Italian beauty!
I use a 496RC2 Ball head with this tripod.
lowePRO Pro Runner 300 AW
