About the show

Singapore Airshow is Asia’s largest and one of the most important aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world. A truly global exhibition where the latest state-of-the-art systems and equipment, together with their related technologies and developments, are displayed by top aerospace companies around the world.

Singapore Airshow is held once every two years. This year Airshow was held from 16-21 Feb , with last two days opened for Public visitors. I visited the show on Sunday, 21 Feb and it was bloody crowded. But that’s expected. People in Singapore, turn for heavily for such events. A ticket of 22$ was charged for entry and that included transport from nearest MRT station (Expo MRT) to Changi exhibition centre, where event was held. Lot of families visited the show with mats and food. Organizers had put snacks stall and some refreshment drinks as well.

Exhibition

Cutting edge latest developments in field of aviations were on display, followed by a marvellous aerial display. But the best part of the event that i liked was the flight simulators and virtual reality demonstrations. General public was allowed to hold and view lethal weaponry like machine guns and combat artillery. Public was also allowed to sit inside fighter planes and helicopters. It was great to see military equipments and war planes in real life. They looked straight out from Hollywood movies. Some freebies for kids like Rubix cube, small toys were being distributed. But there was a long queue for all attractions.

They provide the Rafale with very high manoeuvrability and maximum safety. Its two Snecma M88-2 engines can attain full power in less than 4 seconds and they give the aircraft the acceleration to reach an altitude of 40,000 feet within 2 minutes of releasing the brakes at take-off. The Rafale accomplished its first operational mission over France in 2006.
